FAQs
What can I expect in a counseling session?
- A session usually lasts 45-50 minutes, although longer sessions might be considered useful. We recommend sessions every other week for 9 out of 10 of our clients/families. Between sessions, you may have homework, (journaling, reading a book, or practicing skills) that can help facilitate change more efficiently. We believe having sessions less frequently allows some time for this work to get done. We typically only recommend weekly sessions if the client/family is in crisis.
- Because it works. Dr. DeYoung established his practice meeting with clients in their home. He believes online-telehealth therapy preserves many of the same values and benefits that the in-home therapy provided. You can look at our services page to better understand our philosophy.
- Not at this time. Dr. DeYoung is a certified TeleHealth provider and can provide therapy services over secure, encrypted video service.
- We do not accept insurance. We currently believe that our clients are best served by eliminating insurance from outpatient mental health services. We are happy to explain this philosophy in an initial phone call.
